Frigid Light

This morning's weather: -24oC with -35oC windchill. It sure was cold, but when you have a scene like this in front of your eyes you suddenly forget what temperature it is. These mornings are why I love landscape photography. Sometimes it's a struggle to get out there in the cold, but Winter offers some amazingly unique scenes only the cold weather can provide.

April Ice

Symphony of Light

I captured this stunning mega sunset on the side of the 20th Sideroad in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada. Every day I watch the weather closely and try to predict when beautiful sunsets and sunrises will happen. Sometimes I get it completely wrong but sometimes it works out and I manage to capture a stunning sunset like these. It feels so amazing to be out with the camera capturing the beauty of nature and standing below the symphony of light.

This Old Barn

I recently found this old gem on a nearby farm that appeared to be sold off years ago. What always gets me with old barns and abandoned houses is the stories they must know. And I’m sure it’s seen its share of pretty sweet sunsets as well.

Morning Isolation

Not many words needed to explain this one. The sunrise of March 28, 2020 was absolutely fantastic ! Captured at Innisfil Beach Park on the shores of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.

Broken

The ice slowly breaking up and melting away on Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, Canada. Although we have seen some very Spring-like temps recently, this image was captured during a very cold evening. Temps were around -7 C and had frozen up the broken ice structures. I love capturing lake ice, especially this time of year as one can find some interesting looking patterns.

December Fire

The final sunrise of 2018. A storm system was rolling into Central Ontario early New Years Eve and I figured I had a good shot of catching a nice sunrise. So I got out of bed at 6:30am and headed to the Tiny Marsh just north of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Once I arrived I could see some red sky just appearing on the horizon so I knew I just may be in luck. At approx. 7:30am the sky was lighting up fast. There was a lot of cloud cover so I figured the light would possibly get snuffed out so I composed my shot for this image. Sure enough, within 5 mins or so the light quickly faded into a dreary grey overcast day. In photography sometimes the light doesn't last very long at all, here is one instance. Enjoy!

Daylight in the Swamp

My grandma always used to say to me "daylight in the swamp" whenever she got out of bed in the morning before I did. This spectacular sunrise was shot in May of 2017. Still to this day, one of the best sunrises I've ever witnessed. I was lucky enough to decide to get out of bed early enough that morning to be able to capture this beauty. Location: just outside Barrie, Ontario, Canada on the Barrie Collingwood Railway.
